AIA 2018 Conference of Architecture

Recap: Adappt at A’18

The Adappt Intelligence USA team had an amazing time in New York at AIA’18. With over 650 available sessions, 800 leading brands, and 200,000 square feet of architecture expo, this conference was slightly overwhelming but packed with a diverse group of the latest products and technologies.

After two days of gaining actionable insights from our peers at A’18, we are poised to further develop newfound relationships and bring our system of analytics to a variety of new locations. Being an intern only three weeks into my summer with Adappt, I was somewhat hesitant at first to deliver our pitch to visitors in such a hectic environment. After a few interactions, I began to realize that each time I was pitching to a singular person, not to the thousands of A’18 attendees as a whole. By our final expo hours on Friday, I had learned enough from my coworkers that explaining our business model was second-nature.

As one of the few office analytics companies exhibiting at A’18, Adappt provided a unique solution to conference visitors and presenters alike. After speaking with a few architects, we began to understand how our workplace solutions could be tailored to the architecture industry in particular. Architects see value in our data and analytics as a short-term workplace consulting solution. With Adappt as a tool in the pre-occupancy survey toolkit, architects can collect concrete, granular data to make decisions when designing new or remodeling existing office spaces.

A’18 was a very well-structured event with unprecedented exposure to leaders of the architecture industry. Having first-hand conversations with creative architects, designers, and firms helped us understand how we should tailor our offering to fit into the complex real estate value chain and improve our services. Expect to see the Adappt team at more conferences soon.
